About the Teacher behind L.a.T.i.S.K.
Hi there,
My name is Mia, better known as Mia Teacher at my school in South Korea. I am a native of the united states of America, born-and-raised. Below is a short synopsis of my journey and how I was led to teaching in South Korea...
Born-and-raised in Los Angeles, I attended public school from pre-school through High School. I then attended college in upstate, NY. After graduation, I moved to D.C. to teach Kindergarten. After a year of that, I moved back to Los Angeles where I would reside for the next five (5) years. I moved to the Southeastern part of the usA which is where my journey to South Korea directly began.
On the first day of the year 2012, I had enough of trying to be fulfilled and just working "jobs" every day. I wrote down all of my passions at the time and found that Teaching English abroad embodied at least 3-4 of the things on my list. In January, I found out about the EPIK, GEPIK, and SMOE programs in South Korea at the same time I was learning which TEFL program would allow me to teach globally.
After HOURS of research, I applied to the EPIK program in February and then applied, interviewed, and enrolled in the CELTA program, which I completed that May/June in D.C.
My decision to live and teach in South Korea not only occurred during a time of great spiritual and mental change for me, but it allowed me to be removed from all the numerous distractions that were working to distract me from reaching people in a positive and encouraging way.
I hope this site truly serves its purpose of helping all living beings discover the world at large, learn about other places first-hand, and experience everything this world has to offer them.
Thanks for visiting and be sure to share this site with your friends!
Be Well.
